I havnt posted for a while and to tell you the truth its a good thing. It means Im too busy, and being too busy is good for me.
Heres something Ive been working on.
Yes, quills. Ive been getting medieval and getting back to the roots of calligraphy. Ill post some results soon.
Congrats Martin Heaton & Olly Wood for their brilliant answer to the White Pencil/Interbrand brief. Peace One Day is a truly a worth while event and D&AD set a student brief to help promote their cause. The White Pencil is awarded to a creative idea that changes the world for the better.
Heres a link to their video.
Heres my new portfolio. Its very much under construction but its getting there. Hope you enjoy.
Twitter has been around for a while now, its established its self as one of the two top dogs in the social network industry. Here you can see the development of their new logo.
Its interesting how a simple restyle can bring the brand forward and show its intentions for the long term. To me the original little bird was kind of cute and chirpy (excuse the pun) and Im sure thats what they intended. The new design is strong, its lost its little hair style, it points up to the sky and seems to have grown up.
Here you can the contrast between the old and the new.
Heres what twitter have to say about the new look.
Our new bird grows out of love for ornithology, design within creative constraints, and simple geometry. This bird is crafted purely from three sets of overlapping circles — similar to how your networks, interests and ideas connect and intersect with peers and friends. Whether soaring high above the earth to take in a broad view, or flocking with other birds to achieve a common purpose, a bird in flight is the ultimate representation of freedom, hope and limitless possibility.
Final assignment this year. Im in the process of coming up with 100 images about the city. Heres a few things Ive come up with.
One of last terms assignments required us to map an area of interest to us. This project was mainly a research task but it also required a physical outcome. The brief asked us to use an area of graphic design (in my case branding and logo design) that we find interesting. It was important to not create a finished item but to make the item used to make the finished item….understand? No neither did I for quite a while! But after a lot of research and a lot of work I created my How To Guide. The attached CD is a collection of vector elements designed by me for the readers use. Paired with the guide itself its the best way to start your logo design.
So if your about to make a BJJ logo, take a good look at these photos. If not, then just enjoy.
I just completed my first industry related uni assignment. I worked with LBi on a brief to make an app for the London 2012 Olympics. Heres the brief
So thats what we did. Expect some news soon……..
I have to say that the time I spent at LBi was great. Its opened my eyes to the idea of creative ability having nothing to do with technical skills. Thats something really useful to me.
Id also like to say well done and thanks to Jeff and Alex who made up JTA Creative Design Inc with me. We worked well as a team and they put up with my incessant moaning like real pros.
My big brother lives in Spain and hes expecting a very important package to be delivered in the next few months. I wanted to make sure my Mum was there shortly after so I thought what better way that to get a flight for her. So I made a boarding pass, check it out.
